This novel does not want you to miss the point. It hits you over the head with the dangers of online chat rooms.
There is far too much telling (e.g. Sam tells us that she’s not talking to her old school friend anymore, instead of us seeing her look at her phone sadly to see no message, or her compare her old school friend to the possible friends at her new school), and because of this it was hard to engage with the story. While Sam’s plot was given a resolution, Erica’s wasn’t. Chat Room
