VACANCY: COLD CALLER AND NEW LEAD GENERATOR/GENERAL ADMINISTRATOR

Help the Rural Child is a chain of charity shops that support the Goedgedacht Path out of Poverty Rural Youth Centres. We are a community-based (CBO), non-profit organisation (NPO). 

One department of our organisation, the mobile bookshop, is looking to expand and requires an individual who will be required to develop new business opportunities through research, identification of new leads and cold calling. 

Job Description:

  • Compiling lists of potential new customers from various sources and categorizing lists 
  • Cold calling – contact various schools, companies and organisations to discuss HTRC and encourage the bulk sale of books and donations. In addition, follow up via email is required.
  • Relationship management – maintain good relationships with key customers/donors to encourage further donations for the business
  • Networking – actively secure leads through existing customers and follow up
  • Research potential new customer markets to target
  • Admin – Responsible for maintaining existing internal databases/spreadsheets/lists relating to the details of new customers. This includes the all relevant information required by the business i.e. donation information.
  • General administration duties to assist Department Manager viz. courier, spreadsheet maintenance etc.

There is a requirement to continuously provide new ideas on how the business can increase the customer base and donations. Proactively source, develop and implement new ways on how the business can increase the customer base, which includes working with the Department Manager on developing a 6 monthly plan on achieving set targets.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year cold calling experience
  • Strong phone presence
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Well organized and process driven
  • Ability to build and maintain lasting relationship with prospects
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must be able to use MS Excel for data capturing and be able to effectively analyse the data gathered. 
  • Self-motivated, with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm

Please note this is 5 day work week position from 08h00 to 13h00 Monday to Friday and note that position needs to be filled rather urgently.  Also this is a Fixed Term Contract for 5 months from February – June 2025 at present.
