Description

The red Smeds and the blue Smoos are two groups of aliens who are taught to dislike each other and never mix. When a young Smed named Janet and a young Smoo named Bill fall in love, their families strongly disapprove, and the couple eventually runs away together in a rocket. The story follows the two groups as they go on an adventure through space to find the lovers, which leads them to put aside their differences and become friends. The book concludes with the families coming together and celebrating the arrival of their new purple baby.
